Developmental Disabilities (DD)

DD is defined as a group of conditions and/or impairments of physical, learning, language, or behavior areas. These conditions begin during the developmental period, may impact day-to-day functioning, and usually last throughout a person’s lifetime.

  • Mental Health Connections, Inc. (MHC) will complete an intake application for services. Once the intake is complete, the individual will be assisted with contacting the Alabama Department of Mental Health (ADMH) Call Center for initial screening and referral. Once the ADMH refers the individual to their nearest 310 Board to complete the eligibility process, our agency will provide support for the individual until the individual is determined eligible and service(s) are provided.

 

  • MHC will also assist DD Subcontractors with:
    • Employee Recruitment:  We will advertise employee recruitment on our website and social media pages.
    • Mediation: MHC will provide mediation assistance between nursing homes, hospitals, and ambulance transporting services.
    • MHC Newsletter: MHC will provide a monthly newsletter of vital information from Alabama Department of Mental Health, DD Subcontractor meetings, community projects, fundraisers, and People 1st of Alabama meetings. The newsletter will also outline information regarding services for individuals that utilizes Medicaid waiver services.
